Tuesday has proven to be a busy day for the members of the WFD who have logged five runs thus far.
The morning started at 8:30am with an activated fire alarm at the Christian Health Care Center. Engine #232 (OIC BC Hendrickson), Engine #233 (OIC LT. Forsyth), Engine #231 and DC Rose #239 all responded into the scene. Upon arrival, BC Hendrickson reported that the alarm was activated in error due to a malfunction in the system
While remaining units were still enroute to the call above, Wyckoff PD were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident with a possible entrapment on Grandview Avenue. DC Rose requested an additiional alarm be dispatched for Rescue #242 and the remainder of the Wyckoff units to be assigned to the Grandview Avenue incident. Upon arrival, DC Rose reported two vehicles involved with one vehicle off the roadway into a tree lined area with a female driver who was unable to exit the vehicle.
Engine #235, Engine #233, Rescue #242, Rescue #243 and Engine #232 all responded into the Grandview Avenue accident. Upon arrival, crews worked to secure the vehicles batteries and assess the patient condition. The crew from Rescue #242 went to work utlizing a winch to pull the vehicle out of the wooded area to gain better access to the vehicle and patient. Once the vehicle was moved, the patient was able to be removed from the vehicle and turned over to BLS.
At approximately 10:30am, Wyckoff Police received a report of a gas meter leaking outside of a residence on Harvest Court. Engine #231 (OIC BC Vanderplaat), Engine #232 (OIC BC Hendrickson, Tower Ladder #241 (OIC FF. Alvarez), Engine #233 (OIC Lt. Forsyth) and DC Rose #239 all responded into the scene. Upon the arrival of Engine #231, BC Vanderplaat reported that there was a broken gas line coming out of the meter on the exterior of the residence. Crews were able to shut the gas off to the residence and and turned the incident over to PSE&g. All crews returned to service a short time later.
At 3:10pm, the Oakland Fire Department requested Tower Ladder #241 respond mutual aid into their town for an activated fire alarm at Indian Hills High School. Tower Ladder #241 (OIC FF. Ciampo) and DC Rose #239 both reponded. Wyckoff units were released upon arrival since the activation was found to be a malfunction by Oakland Crews.
